Screenwriter Selected for ‘Indiana Jones 5’

Writer David Koepp may not be a household name but he’s written some of the biggest and most influential movies of the last thirty years. He’s written the scripts to Jurassic Park (1993), Mission: Impossible (1996), Spider-Man (2002) and War of the Worlds (2005) just to name a few. Oh, and it looks like he will be penning the screenplay for the latest, just officially announced film in the Indiana Jones franchise.

The fifth installment of the series is officially a go at Disney with director Steven Spielberg and actor Harrison Ford set to re-team on another adventure set around our favorite snake-hating archaeologist. Everything on terms of plot (including how the film will handle Ford’s age) is closely kept to the vest for now as is if the Indiana Jones 5 has any treatment already in the works or if the filmmakers are starting from scratch with the next installment. It also seems, at least for now, that George Lucas may not be involved with this one.

Not only does Koepp have experience working with Spielberg, he’s also not new to the Indiana Jones world either- he also penned the last installment Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008). The fourth installment in the series brought back Ford as well as Karen Allen (as main squeeze Marion Ravenwood) and co-starred Cate Blanchett (Carol) and Shia LeBeouf (Fury). Since then, Keopp has written Ghost Town (2008), Angels & Demons (2009), Premium Rush (2012), Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014) and upcoming Inferno. In the cases of Ghost Town and Premium Rush, Koepp doubled as director as well.

Indiana Jones 5 will open on July 19, 2019. We will stay tuned to the latest developments.
