‘Scream’ Directors Discuss Another Sequel

It’s been just weeks since the fifth Scream movie hit theatres and with the amount of success the creators have seen, especially with a new installment of an already iconic horror franchise, it would be impossible not to get greedy. Rumor has it that fans may get another sequel from Radio Silence.

As of right now, Scream 2022, has a 77 % on the Tomatometer and rocks an audience score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film has also made nearly $85 million worldwide at the box office, a hefty increase from the reported $24 million production budget. This would easily mean a sequel, right? Even beyond those numbers adding up to justify another Scream, fans are left wondering if the Radio Silence team will continue the franchise.

Since the release of the last film, the buzz around Scream remains sky-high at the moment, leaving it easy to forget that producer Chad Villella and directors Matt Nettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have a knack for delivering stellar content. Proving this back in their YouTube days, doing it again on the standout segments for horror anthology films V/H/S and Southbound. The team hit it big when they turned the game of hide-and-seek into a wildly entertaining horror comedy, Ready or Not.

Despite the success of the newest installment of Scream, there is the expense of them not being able to go on and produce other stories. When speaking with Collider on whether they would like to continue the franchise or working on something else, Gillett states that the team would look forward to being able to pursue both projects, they’ve had multiple conversations about new films, but aren’t ready to give up Scream just yet.
