The most recent theatrical endeavor for Ethan Cohen, Drive-Away Dolls, hits theaters this weekend. Ahead of its release, the scores for the film have been revealed.
As of now, the film sits at a 6.5 on IMDb, and a 72% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Known for directing movies with his brother, Drive-Away Dolls is a solo project for Ethan Cohen. The film follows a duo of young women looking for an escape from the troubles of their lives, but their ideal Tallahassee getaway takes a turn for the worst when they get entangled with a gang of criminals. The film stars Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan as the leading duo, alongside Beanie Feldstein, Matt Damon, and Pedro Pascal.
As Screen Rant points out, the Rotten Tomato score for Drive-Away Dolls, when stacked up against the duo’s entire filmography, lands more towards the bottom. It currently sits above 2004’s The Ladykillers, and 1994’s The Hudsucker Proxy, with 54% and 62%, respectively. The highest that a Choen Brothers film goes on Rotten Tomatoes is True Grit from 2010, with a 95%.
As well as directing, Ethan Cohen also wrote the script with Tricia Cooke.
The Cohen Brothers have many more acclaimed titles to their names, such as The Big Lebowski, Fargo, and No Country For Old Men, among many others.
