The cast of the upcoming satirical sci-fi thriller Dual has added some new faces. Joining lead actress Karen Gillan will now be Emmy-winning Breaking Bad and Westworld star Aaron Paul, Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Beulah Koale (Hawaii Five-O) and Martha Kelly from Marriage Story.
Directed and written by The Art of Self Defense’s Riley Stearns, Dual stars Gillan (Jumanji, Guardians of the Galaxy) in dual roles. The story follows a terminally ill woman (Gillan) who opts for a cloning procedure to ease her loss on her friends and family. When she makes a miraculous recovery, however, attempts to have her clone (also played by Gillan) decommissioned fail and lead to a court-mandated duel to the death. XYZ Films will produce alongside Stearns, as well as handle global sales.
Gillan was most recently seen in the Jumanji sequel Welcome To The Jungle. She also recently made her directorial debut with The Party’s Just Beginning and will next seen in the upcoming spy thriller Gunpowder Milkshake. Paul is currently on the third season of HBO’s Westworld. Eisenberg had worked with Stearns on The Art of Self Defense and can be currently seen in Vivarium and the World War II drama Resistance.
Dual is expected to be shot this summer and be on sale for the Cannes virtual market.
