Bruce Willis will replace Arnold Schwarzenegger for the lead role in the upcoming action film Captive. The film will be directed by Simon Brand, and was written by Kario Salem and Paolo Marinou-Blanco. The script has supposedly been adjusted in order to suit its new leading man. Captive will begin production in March, with distribution yet to be settled, but plenty of companies apparently interested.
The plot will feature Willis as a real estate developer in Brazil who gets kidnapped and held for ransom. Unfortunately, Willis’s character is not wealthy, so he must escape from an armored vehicle before the kidnappers realize that no riches are incoming. Also in the film is a detective role that has yet to be cast.
2012 saw Willis appear in many action franchise sequels including A Good Day to Die Hard and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. He announced in August that he was tired of playing action roles and will not be returning for Expendables 3. Since then, he has either had a change of mind or he cannot find any role other than action star. Either way, in addition to Captive he will also appear in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and The Prince so clearly Bruce Willis’s action days are far from over.
