Kevin Clark, who played Freddy Jones in the iconic 2003 comedy School of Rock was tragically killed in a bicycle accident yesterday. He was 32 years old. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clark was riding his bike in Chicago at approximately 1:20 A.M, when he was hit by a vehicle. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
Clark’s only acting credit was in School of Rock, until he became a musician. He formed multiple bands, wrote songs, and taught children. He just started a new band that performed live for the first time just this past weekend. His mother, Allison Clark stated, “He told his bandmates just yesterday: You know, this is finally the life I want to live. And we’re going to make it. You’re my musical family – my family – and we’re all going to make it”.
Jack Black, who was the lead in School of Rock, posted a tribute to Clark on Instagram, with the caption, “Devastating news. Kevin is gone. Way too soon. Beautiful soul. So many great memories. Heartbroken. Sending love to his family and the whole School of Rock community”. In the post, Black included an image of his character Dewey Finn in the movie, alongside Clark as Freddy. Clark is survived by his mother and sister.
