Sawyer Spielberg Makes Acting Debut in Horror Movie ‘HoneyDew’

The long-awaited indie horror film Honeydew has been postponed numerous times due to the pandemic. Finally, it was officially shown at the Nightstream Film Festival in October and received rave reviews. Now, Collider has exclusively shared the first trailer for the film. Honeydew has been called a “hallucinogenic nightmare of a movie”.

It will tell the story of a young couple (played by Sawyer Spielberg and Malin Barr (Skyscraper)) who, while they roadtrip, are forced to stay in the house of an aging farmer, portrayed by Barbara Kingsley (Jessica Jones) and her odd son. Suddenly, the mother and son begin having strange cravings and hallucinations.  The film sounds like flashback to the classics, such as Chainsaw Massacre (1974) and The Hitcher (1986), which is intriguing to say the least. This will be Sawyer Spielberg, yes Steven Spielberg’s acting debut, and I am for one very excited to see how he takes on this bizarre movie. Honeydew will be directed by Devereux Milburn, known for 2014’s thriller short Wade. Milburn was also awarded “Best Director” out of the UK FrightFest premiere.

Honeydew will be in limited theaters on March 12, 2021, before arriving on all VOD platforms and Digital HD April 13, 2021.

Melissa Cusano: I love to escape reality with reading, writing, movies, and music! If I'm not working I love to go to concerts (pre-covid), play video games, and hang out with my dog Ozzi.
