Sarah Paulson is now an official cast member in M. Night Shyamalan‘s Glass. The film is a sequel-of-sorts to his films Unbreakable (2000) and last year’s sleeper hit Split. Already starring Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson from Unbreakable, and Anya Taylor-Joy and James McAvoy from Split, Sarah Paulson is the first newcomer to Universal’s unexpected series.
2000’s Unbreakable follows Willis as a man who learns a shocking truth about himself after suffering a terrible accident. He meets Mr. Glass (Jackson), who helps him to see the positive affects of this truth and teaches him how to use it to reach his full potential. Split follows Casey (Taylor-Joy) and two other kidnapped girls who attempt to outsmart their captor (McAvoy), a man with 23 personalities. Willis appears in the very last scene of Split, and surprised Shyamalan’s fans around the world by delicately connecting the two films that were already somewhat connected by their characters with strange and supernatural abilities.
Paulson is an Emmy and Golden Globe winner for her work on American Crime Story. Even more notably, the actress is a mainstay in FX’s American Horror Story series, and will thereby be ready to bring any creeps that Shyamalan throws her way. She is no doubt an exciting addition to the cast, combining her award-winning performances with her talent for skin-crawling horror. Next up, audiences will get to see her in a totally new light as she joins the all-female heist ensemble for Oceans Eight.
Glass hits theaters on January 18, 2019.
