The film, being helmed by Daniels’ directing duo (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), is currently untitled, but the cast is coming together. Matt Damon was already attached to star in the Universal secret event film, and Sandra Oh is now in talks to co-star in the film.
Kwan and Scheinert will both produce, alongside Jonathan Wang all under the umbrella of their Playgrounds’ deal with the studio. Kwan and Wang produced The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist for Focus Features, which arrived in theaters earlier this year. The directing duo of Kwan and Scheinert co-directed Everything Everywhere All At Once, which won Best Picture at the Academy Awards in 2023. Sara Scott and Jacqueline Garell will oversee the project for Universal.
Sandra Oh will be a familiar face to fans of Greys Anatomy, where the actress has been nominated for best supporting actress at the Emmy’s 5 times. Her work on the big screen includes The Princess Diaries, Sideways, Turning Red, and most recently Good Fortune.
The film is set for release on November 19, 2027.
