Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock has signed on to produce and star in a new romantic action film for Paramount Pictures, The Lost City of D. The film will be directed by sibling duo Adam and Aaron Nee, who are also set to direct the upcoming Masters of the Universe film.
The Lost City of D centers on a romance author who discovers that a fictional city she had written about is actual real, prompting her to embark on a journey to find the city. The film’s script is written by Dana Fox, based on an idea and treatment by Seth Gordon. Fox previously wrote the 2019 romantic comedy Isn’t it Romantic and the 2016 movie How to be Single.
The studio is reportedly eyeing Ryan Reynolds to co-star in the film, but there’s currently no deal in place. Reynolds previously worked with Bullock on the 2009 romantic comedy, The Proposal, which was also produced by Bullock.
Bullock hasn’t been seen in a feature-length film since the hit 2018 Netflix horror film Bird Box. She won her Academy Award in 2009 for her performance in The Blind Side, and received another nomination in the same category in 2013 for her performance in Alfonso Cuarón’s sci-fi thriller Gravity.
