Sandra Bullock finished 2021 starring in another Netflix film, The Unforgivable, which followed the story of a woman searching for her sister freshly out of prison. This film followed the success of her previous Netflix title: Bird Box, an apocalyptic thriller. The latter held the number one spot for the most streams on Netflix movies back in 2018 during its release and held that spot until just a few weeks ago when Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot took the spot with Ryan Marshall Thurber’s Red Notice.
Despite this, Bullock remains on the Netflix charts, since in recent days, The Unforgivable has claimed a spot in the top 10 for most-streamed Netflix movies of all time. Bullock herself though, doesn’t get caught up in the data.
“You can’t, you can’t,” she told The Hollywood Reporter of obsessing over its value at The Unforgivable premiere in December. But what she will do is praise Netflix for employing talent of a certain age. “They’re good to artists. They’re good to filmmakers. If it wasn’t for Netflix, a lot of people wouldn’t be working. Their stories wouldn’t be told. Who would think that me, as a woman, would still be working at this point? I would have been out in the cow pasture. It’s true.”
The actress and producer claims that hits like Squid Game wouldn’t happen without Netflix and the power that it holds. The work put in by Netflix to include projects from other countries and cultures has brought people together in a way people haven’t seen before. Blending new stories together has given streamers a new outlook on film and television.
