Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers, Django Unchained) stars in Kite, the live-action adaptation of the 1998 Yasuomi Umetsu anime of the same name. South African director/writer Ralph Ziman (Gangster’s Paradise) has adapted the comic, a reported passion project of Jackson’s, about a failed state with a corrupt security force that makes extra money trafficking young girls. India Eisley (The Secret Life of an American Teenager, Underworld Awakening) stars as a young girl whose policeman father is killed. She vows to avenge his death with the help of his ex-partner played by Jackson. Callan McAuliffe (The Great Gatsby) plays an assassin.
Kite is being produced by Alberto Muffelmann, Anant Singh, Brian Cox, Gerardo Gatica, and Moises Cosio with Deatalle Films and Distand Horizon Pictures. The Weinstein Company will distribute.
As of yet, there is no release date.
