A sequel for 2019’s Ready or Not is in the works, with Samara Weaving and Radio Silence returning to the project. The sequel was announced when Searchlight hosted a screening of the original film at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.
Radio Silence, the filmmaking collective comprised of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Chad Villella, are reuniting to create Ready or Not 2 for Searchlight Pictures. Weaving will be reprising her original role.
Ready or Not, which grossed $28 million domestically on a $6 million budget, was the widest release for Searchlight at the time. After the success of the original film, Radio Silence continued to work on other major horror projects, including the Scream revival franchise and Abigail, which was released by Universal earlier this year. Weaving has recently appeared in films such as Damien Chazelle’s Babylon and Searchlight Pictures’ Chevalier.
Although details about the sequel’s plot remain unknown, screenwriters Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy are also returning for the sequel. Tripp Vinson, Bradley J. Fischer, William Sherak and James Vanderbilt are returning as producers, while Villella and Tara Farney will executive produce.
Among the cast of Ready or Not were Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, and Andie Powell. It is unknown if they will return for the sequel.
Details about the film’s release date have yet to be announced.
