Spider-Man: Far From Home has won over audiences since its release, and many fans are still talking about the post credits scene of the movie. The scene not only hints at the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also contained a surprise many longtime Spider-Man fans would appreciate.

The scene starts with Spider-Man and MJ on a web-slinging New York stroll. They land in the middle of Time Square where a news report discusses the last final moments of Quentin Beck (Mysterio). Beck used his last moments to frame Spider-Man as a perpetrator of numerous crimes throughout the scene. The news report then mentions that the footage was found on the “controversial news site” The Daily Bugle, where it cuts to J. Jonah Jameson (played once again by the legendary J.K. Simmons) reporting the incident. The final moments of the post-credits scene has Beck shortly revealing Spider Man’s true identity, Peter Parker, to the whole world and of course, Parker is not amused by this.
The big reaction many had to this post-credits scene was the return of Simmons playing as possibly his most famous role of all time. Fans were missing the character and actor’s absence in previous Spider-Man films since the character has not appeared on screen in a live-action film since 2007’s Spider-Man 3. The director of the original Spider-Man trilogy, Sam Raimi has recently made a comment on the decision of Simmons to return as Jameson. The director mentioned that he has yet to see the film, but was incredibly satisfied with this recent decision made by the MCU. He first heard about the cameo through Simmons himself, asking his thoughts on this cameo, and encouraged him to do it by saying, ‘With all my greatest blessings,’ because I love Spider-Man, I love J.K. and I want to see more of them.”
It is clear that not only Raimi wanted to see this happen again, but Marvel fans in general wanted to see Simmons returning talking smack about Spider-Man. It made for a worthwhile credits sequence that many fans are stating that it is one of the best post-credits sequences of the entire MCU.
