SC Films is putting up new action horror movie, Cotton Eye Joe, for sale at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film is to feature Bill Moseley (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy). According to the SC Films official website, the movie follows four friends who get stranded and look for help at a nearby farm, only to awaken the legend of Cotton Eye Joe. The move is to written and directed by Nick Merola who has only directed shorts, such as one for the horror franchise Silent Hill, which is a short of the fourth game in the series titled, Silent Hill: The Room.
In an interview with Deadline, Merola said,”I started making horror movies in the second grade using my dad’s VHS camera, so to be stepping onto the set of my first feature with this incredible cast and crew is beyond a dream come true. Cotton Eye Joe is exactly the kind of movie that made me fall in love with the horror genre as a kid – incredibly bloody, suspenseful, and most importantly, fun.”
According to Deadline, filming began this week in Illinois and the festival begins September 20th. No other information of the film has been release as of now.
