Like most other things in the entertainment industry, the 27th Screen Actors Guild Awards has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic that has plagued countries all over the world since the beginning of the year.
Instead of taking place on its initial date of Jan. 24, 2021, the SAG Awards is postponing its ceremony date back to Sunday, March 14, 2021. Honoring the best in film and television, the award show is just one of the latest to make adjustments in scheduling amid the novel pandemic. In recent weeks, the 93rd Academy Awards, BAFTA Film Awards and Golden Globes have all delayed their ceremonies.
In accordance with this new date for the ceremony, eligibility requirements have been modified, extending the eligibility window by two months.
Nomination voting for the SAG Awards will now begin on Jan. 11, 2021 and run through Feb. 1, 2021, with nominations announced on Feb. 4, 2021. Final voting will be held from Feb. 10, 2021 through March 10, 2021.
The 2020 SAG Awards ceremony took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, and saw big wins for the cast of Parasite, Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) and Renée Zellweger (Judy), along with many others.
