SAG Awards In-Person Nominations Announcement Canceled Amid LA Fires

Due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, SAG Awards, has refrained from the usual in-person nomination announcements this year. Thus, the decision comes as the industry continues to wrestle with the fires spreading all over the city, which are now affecting both productions and events across Hollywood.

A press statement was released by SAG on their website, saying, “We look forward to celebrating these incredible actors and their work at the SAG Awards ceremony on February 23. In the meantime, we urge everyone to stay safe, and thank you for your continued support.” Deadline reports the SAG-AFTRA statement, which emphasizes their determination to proceed with the event despite challenges.

Thus years SAG Awards is significant because it’s a key frontrunner to the Oscars and a symbol of solidarity during this rough time for Hollywood. Many organizers are committed to ensuring this year’s awards will continue to celebrate acting achievements.

This 31st Annual SAG Award ceremony will be held on February 23rd, 2025, and will be on a live broadcast by Netflix from the Shrine Auditorium.

In-person nominations announcements will be missed in the traditional SAG Awards tradition but the ceremony remains a critical part of Hollywood’s awards calendar.
