Actress Sadie Sink has addressed ongoing casting rumors surrounding Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men feature film following her debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Sink discussed the introduction of her character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and clarified her level of involvement in the casting process for future mutant ensemble roles, including Cyclops (Scott Summers). Sink stated that she has not participated in major screen tests alongside prospective co-stars for the project, noting that she receives casting updates through director Jake Schreier, who is attached to helm the X-Men reboot.

Sink described the strategy of introducing Jean Grey through a standalone Spider-Man storyline as a narrative step for the broader franchise. In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sink’s iteration of Jean Grey comes into conflict with Spider-Man while attempting to rescue her sister, Sara Grey, from the Department of Damage Control before ultimately departing New York City.

While online speculation has linked various actors to roles such as Cyclops and Samara Weaving to Emma Frost, Marvel Studios and parent company Disney have not formally confirmed additions to the ensemble cast.

Sink confirmed that principal photography for the X-Men ensemble feature is scheduled to begin in 2027. Following production on the Marvel Studios project, Sink is slated to star in The Marriage Plot, an upcoming FX and A24 limited series adaptation of Jeffrey Eugenides’ 2011 novel. Written by Will Arbery (Succession) and directed by Hiro Murai (Atlanta), the series centers on three college graduates navigating personal relationships and career choices.
