Ryan Reynolds to Produce and Star in New Parenting Comedy from Universal

Ryan Reynolds will officially star in Universal’s Everyday Parenting Tips, monster-comedy movie that was inspired by Simon Rich’s 2020 New Yorker short story. In the film, Reynolds will play a a father who must face all of the hardships, struggles, and joys that come with raising children, all in the midst of a  “Great Monster Uprising,” per Deadline.  His Maximum Effort Productions will produce the film alongside George Dewey, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller.

While no director is attached to the film yet, Rich will write the screenplay. This isn’t his first foray into screenwriting, as he just recently wrote and produced Seth Rogen’s newest project, An American Pickle, while also having worked on Inside Out and The Secret Life of Pets.

Reynolds’ latest movie was Michael Bay’s 6 Underground, which came out on Netflix in December 2019, to relatively negative critical reviews. He is currently working on Red Notice with Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, as well as The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard alongside Salma Hayek and Samuel L. Jackson.

Currently, there is no targeted release date for the project.
