Ryan Reynolds, the actor behind the mask of the wildly popular Deadpool, recently confirmed that there are plans for a fourth film. In an appearance at Fanatics Fest 2026, Reynolds restated his passion for the character, saying, “There’s a few really deep cuts that I think are missing behind the movies. I think there’s a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics. There’s certainly some stuff that, you know, I love that Fabian Nicieza [co-creator of Deadpool] wrote that is incredible. Gerry Duggan, who was a friend, was an incredible comic writer.”
The actor went on to say, “There’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, you know, remotely another Deadpool film. It’s going to be great.” Now, the way he phrased these comments implies that there are no concrete plans for what a fourth Deadpool film would look like yet, but his continued interest makes it more than likely that it will happen. Deadpool & Wolverine became the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time when it released, surpassing Joker. It was also the second highest-grossing film of that year, only behind Inside Out 2. The first two Deadpool films also performed extremely well, so Marvel has every reason to make a fourth movie.
Interestingly, Reynolds stated in 2024 that he did not see a fourth Deadpool in his future, saying, “Centering Deadpool works best if you take everything away from him and put his back against the wall. I can’t really do that again. A fourth time feels a little iterative and redundant. That doesn’t mean sacrificing fun. There is still an arc for Deadpool which is fulfilling and powerful.” It seem that the actor was either presented with a compelling idea or script, or he just warmed up to the idea over time. Regardless, Marvel has not announced any new Deadpool movies yet, but don’t be surprised when it happens.
