Coyote vs ACME, the resurrected Looney Tunes film, finally lands in theaters this August, but lucky San Diego fans may be able to see the film a month early. The movie will return to San Diego Comic Con after showing off the first footage for the film last year at the convention. Now, tickets for the early screening will be made public for any con attendee. Instead of going on sale normally, they will be made available to SDCC ticket holders via a lottery on the San Diego Comic-Con Online Exclusives Portal. There will also be a standby line outside the theater for those who did not manage to nab tickets. The screening will take place at AMC Mission Valley 20 in San Diego on Saturday, July 20. As a bonus, director Dave Green and star Lana Condor will be in attendance and give a special introduction to the film.
Coyote vs ACME is a film that has been stuck in limbo for years now, and was almost vaulted forever. WB Discovery originally planned to vault the film as a tax write-off, as they had with several other film including Batgirl. After adamant public outcry, the studio eventually shopped the film around for someone else to distribute. This almost did not work, but Ketchup Entertainment swooped in at the last minute to buy the film and release it in theaters. Ketchup Entertainment also purchased The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie and released it in theaters last year, another film which WB initially planned to shelf. Coyote vs ACME stars Will Forte, Lana Condor and John Cena, and follows the Coyote as he attempts to sue the ACME corporation for all the faulty products he purchased in his attempts to catch Roadrunner. Aside from Coyote and Roadrunner, several other Looney Tunes characters appear in the film, including Porky Pig, Tweety Bird, Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn, Buddy Crane and Bugs Bunny.
For those not lucky enough to catch the early showing in San Diego, the film will release in theaters nationwide on August 28.
