Netflix has once again added on another project to its abundant plate of exciting, upcoming films. The untitled time-travel adventure thriller, starring Ryan Reynolds and directed by Night at the Museum’s Shawn Levy, is heading to the popular streaming platform.
Skydance is driving the project, which was once called Our Name Is Adam. The project, currently written by Jonathan Tropper, had been attached to Paramount since 2012 and briefly had set Tom Cruise to star, with T.S. Nowlin and duo Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett as writers originally.
Skydance has collaborated a couple of times with Netflix, both films being huge successes, with the recently released hit The Old Guard starring Charlize Theron and last year’s blockbuster 6 Underground, which also starred Reynolds. Both of those movies had made it in the platform’s list of 10 most watched movies. With these successful previous collaborations in mind between Skydance and Netflix, there is much to hope for this upcoming movie.
Production is expected to start in November in Vancouver.
Reynolds will star as a man who must travel back in time to get help from his 13-year-old self. Together, they encounter their late father, who is now the same age as Reynolds’ character.
Reynolds and Levy will also produce the film. The duo had previously teamed up on the upcoming action-comedy Free Guy, which was originally scheduled to debut July 4, but was pushed back amid the surging coronavirus pandemic. The action-comedy feature is now set to be released December 11 this year.
