Ryan Gosling Performs “I’m Just Ken,” Joined By Slash At The Oscars

As per usual Oscars tradition, all of the nominees for Best Original Song perform their respective pieces as the ceremony goes on. Sticking to tradition, Ryan Gosling performed “I’m Just Ken,” from Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.

Unexpectedly, guitarist Slash performed the song with Gosling during the ceremony. One of Slash’s many claims to fame is his part in “Guns N’ Roses,” among being a part of many other musical groups over the years.

Slash was revealed to the crowd as the song moved towards its conclusion, performing side by side with Gosling.

Gosling went the full nine yards when it came to the performance, straight down to his costume evoking the colors that Barbie used throughout the film. The song was performed by Gosling in the film, with lyrics from Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. Ronson and Wyatt also produced the song.

The background dancers of the performance, as well, wore outfits similar to what Ken wore in Barbie. They sported cowboy outfits and hats, akin to many of the costumes designed for Gosling to wear in the film.

Gosling was also up for Best Supporting Actor for Barbie for his performance as Ken but lost the award to Robert Downey Jr. for Oppenheimer.

Barbie is available to stream on Max.
