Rumor: Is Marvel Studios Bringing ‘Nova’ to the Big Screen?

Marvel fans rejoice! The character of Marvel superhero Nova, a Centurion member of the intergalactic peacekeeping force called Nova Corps, may be brought to the big screen by Marvel Studios. A bit of background: Nova (Richard Rider) was an ordinary teenager recruited into the Nova Force. All Nova corpsmen can draw power from the Noval Force which grants them superhuman strength, speed, the ability to fly, the ability to absorb energy and re-direct it at enemies, and resistance to injury. The character debuted in 1976 and its creators were Marv Wolfman (writer) and John Romita, Sr. (artist).

Adam McKay (Vice director) said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, “When I was in the fourth or fifth grade I got into Nova of all people, and I think they’re kicking around a Nova idea now too.” According to ComicBook.com, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said in an interview, “Nova is… if we have a big board with a bunch of characters that have more immediate potential, Nova is on that board…because of the connection to the Guardians universe, because there are more than one examples to pull from in the comics that are interesting…He was in the earliest drafts of the [Guardians of the Galaxy].”

We will keep you updated as more news unfolds about this possible exciting addition to the MCU.
