Filming for Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange is currently underway and some new footage has been revealed showcasing actor Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game) strutting his stuff on the streets of Manhattan. Director Scott Dickerson (most well-known for recent horror fare The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Sinister) directs this further expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Cumberbatch plays Dr. Stephen Strange, a brilliant but jaded surgeon whose career is falling apart when a sorcerer takes him in and trains him to defend the world’s evil. The eclectic ensemble cast includes Rachel McAdams (recently Oscar nominated for her turn in Best Picture winner Spotlight), Tilda Swinton (Oscar winner for Michael Clayton), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Oscar nominated for 12 Years a Slave), Michael Stuhlbarg (Steve Jobs), Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal), Amy Landecker (Transparent) and Scott Adkins (The Legend of Hercules.
