The first trailer for the latest biblical tale about one of the most notable followers of Jesus is currently out.  Universal Pictures’ Mary Magdalene is the untold story of one of the most famous followers of Jesus Chris.  Watch the trailer below.

The role of Mary Magdalene will be played by actress Rooney Mara, who is best known for her supporting role in the Oscar nominated films Carol and Lion.  Other stars slated to play the iconic roles in the epic adventure include Joaquin Phoenix as Jesus.  He will be added to the long list of actors who have played the role, including Willem Defoe and Jim Caviezel. The role of Jesus’ most notable disciple, Peter, will be played by Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofer, from the 2013 film 12 Years A Slave.

The epic film is set to be released next March 30, 2018 and is directed by  Garth Davis, who previously directed Mara in Lion.
