Robin Film ‘Dynamic Duo’ Announced For Spring 2028

Per Collider, the recently announced DC Comics film Dynamic Duo received numerous updates during the Warner Bros. Pictures Animation panel at the 2024 Lightbox Expo.
Set in the Batman universe, Dynamic Duo is a family-friendly story featuring the first two iterations of Robin: Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. Director Arthur Mintz, who was a panelist at the event, shared details about the animation style and anticipated release timeframe.

Mintz revealed that Dynamic Duo will feature animation that blends traditional puppetry with CG. A showreel presented at the panel depicted Grayson and Todd conversing on a Gotham train.

In this adaptation of the Batman mythos, the story centers on teenage versions of Grayson and Todd who are, as of now, not aligned with Bruce Wayne. Warner Bros. has announced a tentative release date for Spring 2028.

As for the film’s place within the DC canon, no concrete confirmations have been made. DC heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are producing, though there is no indication Dynamic Duo will belong to the new DCU.

Despite the involvement of The Batman director Matt Reeves as a producer, Grayson and Todd’s story is set outside the universe of Robert Pattinson’s Batman and Colin Farrell’s Penguin, potentially existing as an Elseworlds storyline.

With recent announcements for Creature Commandos, it’s evident that animated features are again a priority for DC Studios. Additional upcoming Warner Bros. projects include The Cat in the Hat and Meet the Flintstones.
