The spice will flow once more. Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three is just on the horizon, and after a myriad of speculation, Robert Pattinson confirmed that he is playing a part in the film.
Dune: Part Three is slated to follow close behind the events of Dune: Part Two. After defeating Feyd-Rautha and forcing the Harkonnens off of Arrakis, Part Three is set to be based on the events of Dune: Messiah, as Timothée Chalamet’s Paul gains power over the planet and those who live there.
Up until now, Robert Pattinson’s involvement with Part Three was delegated to speculation. An early report on the matter from our site indicated that he would be cast as the main villain of Messiah, Scytale. Scytale is a villain very similar to that of Stellan Skarsgård’s Baron Harkonnen, opting to use their mind to outwit their adversaries, rather than using force.
Pattinson opened up about what it was like to work on Dune, which Hollywood Reporter noted has already been filming. He explained how the heat in the desert would get so intense that it brought him to the point of questioning very little.
“And it was so relaxing, like my brain actually wasn’t operating, I did not have a single functioning brain cell,” Pattinson told IndieWire. He would go on to add that he was willing to enthusiastically go along with whatever direction Villeneuve gave him.
Dune: Part Three hits theaters December 18th, 2026.
