Chloé Zhao’s latest film, Hamnet has garnered multiple praises and accolades for its lead performances, especially for actress Jessie Buckley who’s received both nominations and wins in this year’s awards circuit for her work in the Shakespeare inspired tale. The film also served as the feature debut for young Irish-English actress Bodhi Rae Breathnach as Shakespeare’s daughter. Breathnach will next be seen on the big screen alongside Jason Statham in the action film Shelter, directed by Richard Roman-Waugh.
Now, it has been reported that the young actress has landed small part in Robert Eggers’ upcoming gothic horror picture Werwulf. Serving as Eggers’ fifth feature film after a slate of historical folk endeavors such as The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman, and 2024’s Nosferatu, Werwulf is set for a release later this year. The upcoming creature feature will co-star Nosferatu stars Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron-Taylor Johnson, and frequent Eggers collaborators Ralph Ineson and Willem Dafoe.
Werwulf is set in 13th-century England and was described by Eggers as “a medieval werewolf movie”, noting that it’s “the darkest thing” he’s written yet.
Bodhi Rae Breathnach can also be seen in Focus Features’ upcoming Sense and Sensibility adaptation co-starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Caitríona Balfe and George MacKay this September.
