Robert Downey Jr. On The Set Of ‘The Judge’

Folks at The Wok, a popular Chinese restaurant on Rt.5 in Deerfield, Mass., were jumping for joy when the Iron Man himself,  Robert Downey Jr., ordered take-out for his entire cast and crew on the set of his new movie The Judge.

Could it be Robert Downey Jr.s Iron Man mystique ( he’s just inked a deal to return as Iron Man in Avengers 2 and Avengers 3), that has enticed so many Hollywood heavyweights to come aboard his comedy/drama The Judge? It’s being directed by David Dobkin (Shanghai Knights, Wedding Crashers). Screenwriter Bill Dubuque (Headhunter’s Calling, the 2011 Black List – The Accountant), has penned the script.

The Judge is the story of a big shot, cynical New York lawyer (Downey), who returns to his country roots for his mother’s funeral. There he learns that his estranged father, and town Judge, played by Academy Award winner Robert Duvall (Tender Mercies, The Godfather, Apocalypse Now), is a murder suspect. He has no choice but to defend him.

David Krumholtz (This Is The End), plays the prosecutor challenging Downey’s sense of right and wrong. SAG-AFTRA  national Co-President Ken Howard (The White Shadow), plays the judge presiding over the trial.

Vincent D’ Onofrio (Law & Order, Full Metal Jacket), is his older brother, and Sarah Lancaster (Chuck), is cast as Downey’s soon to be ex-wife. Vera Faminga (Up In The Air), Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade),  Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) and Emma Tremblay (Elysium), are all performing in the film.

Warner Bros. and Team Downey are producing the film, which is slated to open in 2014.
