On Thursday, Variety confirmed that Robert De Niro had injured his leg while in the midst of filming Martin Scorcese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. It is not yet known how serious the injury is, but it occurred while not on set, according to a source close to De Niro, who told TMZ.
On Thursday, De Niro got aboard a plane to go back to his home in New York from Oklahoma, where the film is shooting. He is said to be seeing a doctor about it on Friday.
Sources told TMZ have said that De Niro has already been planning on taking a few weeks off of production. It is not yet known if he will be returning to set. A production source has said that the crew got Friday off due to the injury, so it is possible he had more scenes to film.
The film is an adaptation of the nonfiction book by David Grann, about the series of Osage murders in Oklahoma in the 1920s. The film is set to wrap later this year or early next year.
Alongside De Niro, the film also stars Leonardo Dicaprio, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemmons, and several more. With a reported budget of 200 million, the production released a first look image this past Monday. No release date is known yet.
