Ridley Scott, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Collaborate On ‘The Last Duel’

Things are shaping up for 20th Century Fox after the Disney merger as the studio will distribute Ridley Scott‘s next film The Last Duel, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck according to sources at Deadline.

Based on a best selling revenge novel by Eric Jager, The Last Duel will be written by Damon, Affleck, and Oscar-nominated writer and director Nicole Holofcener. This marks the first time since Good Will Hunting that Damon and Affleck have collaborated on a script, a mere 22 years since their screenplay swept the Academy Awards.

Scott and Kevin Walsh are producing through their Scott Free banner and will be accompanied by Damon and Affleck through their banner Pearl Street. The book has sat around at Fox for quite a while and before the merger with Disney was contemplated as to whether or not it would be distributive for the studio as evident by its long title, The Last Duel: A True Story of Trial by Combat In Medieval France.

The story examines the concept of revenge involving two friends Jean de Carrouges and Jacques Le Gris who will be portrayed by Damon and Affleck. One being a Norman knight and the other a squire, Carrouges goes to war only to return to accuse Le Gris of raping his wife.
