GoodFellas star Paul Sorvino passed away at age 83 from natural causes in at the Jacksonville Mayo Clinic this week. Sorvino was survived by his wife Dee Dee and his daughter Academy Award-winning Mira Sorvino. Dee Dee announced the devastating news, adding in a touching sentiment that Sorvino was the love of her life and that there will never be another performer to “grace the screen and the stage” quite like Sorvino. Sorvino’s daughter also wrote on social media to express her thankfulness to have had a father as fantastic as Sorvino.
Throughout his life Sorvino created a vast filmography. He appears in films like Cruising, The Gambler, Nixon, Slow Dancing in the Big City, and The Cooler. Sorvino even appeared on Law & Order. But, despite the fantastic performances he put on in all of these projects, his most well regarded role remains to be in 1990 when he played Paul Cicero in GoodFellas.
Sorvino’s costars and admirers also paid a tribute to the star on social media this week. Actors such as Ralph Macchio, Forest Whitaker, Marlee Matlin, Mario Lopez, Maureen McCormick, Jason Alexander, and Rosanna Arquette have all expressed their love for Sorvino and their deepest condolences to his family.
