A release date has been set for Lionsgate’s The Glass Castle, starring Academy Award winner Brie Larson (Room), two-time Academy Award nominated actor Woody Harrelson (Wilson), and two-time Academy Award nominated actress Naomi Watts (Shut In).
The film is an adaptation of Jeannette Walls’ memoir of the same name. Walls (Larson) grew up with her vibrant but unconventional parents and three siblings. The family moved around like nomads, moving several times and camping in the mountains. Her father (Harrelson) was brilliant when sober but also bankrupted the family and would disappear for days on end, her mother (Watts) was a devoted painter who had no patience for a conventional home life. The family became increasingly dysfunctional over time, with the children having to fend for themselves as they could not rely on their parents.
Destin Daniel Cretton (Short Term 12) helms from his adapted screenplay which he co-wrote with Andrew Lanham.
The Glass Castle will roll out in theaters on August 11th.
