Release Date Set for ‘Minecraft’

Warner Bros. has set a worldwide release date of May 24, 2019 for its feature film adaptation of the phenomenally popular award-winning video game Minecraft. The film will also be released in 3D and Imax.

The video game, which holds the second best-selling record (first is Tetris), enables players to do world-building out of textured cubes, as well as explore, gather resources, fly, and do combat. The game has spawned books and other merchandise. The fanbase even has annual gaming conventions dedicated to Minecraft, such as MineCon.

Plot details are being kept under wraps. Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia) is attached to direct. We will keep you updated as details are released.
