The film will get a limited release on November 4 and will open wide on November 11.
Mildred and Richard Loving (to be played by World War Z’s Ruth Negga and Black Mass’ Joel Edgerton) were the married mixed-race couple behind the seminal 1967 court case of Loving v. Virginia. Husband and wife were jailed and later banished by their home state as interracial marriage at the time was against the law. They took their civil rights case all the way to the Supreme Court which reaffirmed the foundation of the right to marry.
Oscar-nominated actor Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road), Marton Csokas (The Equalizer) and Nick Kroll (seen in the recently-screened My Blind Brother at SXSW) also star.
Actor Colin Firth produced the movie, which was inspired by Nancy Buirski’s Emmy Award-winning documentary, The Loving Story. Ged Doherty, Buirski, Sarah Green, Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf also produced. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones is executive producer.
