Amazon MGM Studios moves forward in the production process of Mattel Studios’ Polly Pocket feature with Reese Witherspoon’s own production company, Hello Sunshine, confirmed to be co-developing the live-action project starring Lily Collins. Back in June 2021, Lena Dunham was announced to direct and write the adaptation of the popular micro-dolls, but has since dropped out of the project. Screenwriters Dan Brier and Jordan Weiss have taken over the script while Collins’ own Case Study Films is still set to produce. Robbie Breener will produce under Mattel, while Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter will produce under Hello Sunshine, alongside Emily Ferenbach, who is named as an executive producer.

Weiss created 2019’s Hulu series Dollface. She made her directorial debut with the 2024 romantic comedy Sweethearts, the script she co-wrote with Brier. Most recently, Weiss penned the sequel script to Freaky Friday, 2025’s Freakier Friday. Brier and Weiss are collaborating once more on writing a script for an adaptation of Curtis Sittenfeld’s 2023 novel Romantic Comedy.

While this is good news in terms of production, there has still been no information on casting or a release date. Hopefully, there will be more confirmations to come soon.
