Rebel Wilson is officially joining the cast of Taika Waititi‘s Jojo Rabbit, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Wilson joins the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, and Waititi himself as she portrays an instructor at a Hitler Youth Camp run by Rockwell, a Nazi Captain.
The film centers around a young boy named Jojo who desperately wants to be part of the Hitler Youth. He even creates an imaginary friend in the form of Hitler himself played by Waititi. All the while, his mother (Johansson), who is secretly part of the resistance, harbors a young Jewish girl in their attic. After discovering and getting to know the young girl, Jojo begins seeing her as human and begins to question his choices of joining the Nazi regime.
The film is being referred to as a “Nazi Germany Satire.” Production is said to begin in late spring.
Fox Searchlight is producing the flick. We can expect the film to release sometime next year or late this year.
