Raymond Cruz is trying for a new change in scenery from the deserts of New Mexico to a much more spooky landscape with missing children. Cruz has joined the cast of The Children, where he will play a former Catholic priest who became a shaman later in life, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Cruz is most known for playing the violent drug dealer Tuco Salamanca in Breaking Bad.
The Children focuses on the story of a social worker who is attempting to discover the reason behind the disappearance of two young children, which simultaneously puts her family in grave danger. Cruz will be starring alongside Linda Cardellini (ER, Avengers: Age of Ultron), Sean Patrick Thomas (Ringer, Save the Last Dance), and Patricia Velasquez (The Mummy Returns, Liz in September).
The film is being directed by Michael Chaves, who will be making his feature film directorial debut. It is being written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis, who are also debuting as feature film writers. The film is being produced by horror film heavy hitters New Line, who have been on a tear recently with two consecutive box office smashes, with both Annabelle: Creation and the highest grossing horror film of all time It. The film currently does not have a release date, but we are excited to see how the production leads the film.
