Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek has been added to the cast of the Untitled New Regency film directed by David O. Russell. Malek will be joining an already star-studded cast which includes Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington. According to Deadline, Zoe Saldana has signed on to the project as well. The plot is still under wraps, but it is confirmed that the film is based on an original idea from Russell. It has also been confirmed that production is currently underway. New Regency’s Arnon Milchan is producing the film along with Matthew Budman and Anthony Katagas.
Malek made a name for himself in the binge worthy show Mr. Robot, but really hit real stardom when he portrayed the late Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody in 2018, which he won an Oscar for. His next role will be with Denzel Washington and Jared Leto in John Lee Hancock’s Warner Bros. drama The Small Things which will debut on HBO Max on January 29th. Malek is represented by WME and Brillstein Entertainment. Saldana is repped by CAA and LBI Entertainment and she will soon be reprising her role of Neytiri in the upcoming second installment in the Avatar franchise.
