Fans are finally getting a few details regarding Sylvester Stallone’s latest installment in the Rambo franchise. Stallone has starred as John Rambo, a Vietnam War veteran who has difficulty adjusting to civilian life, in four films since 1982. Rambo is known for shining a spotlight on the dangers of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as the character mentally reverts back to the violent trauma of war when he is mistreated. Over the years, Rambo’s story has evolved as he becomes a savior and hero to many. In the fifth film, Rambo: Last Blood, Stallone once again dons the tragic, violent persona of a soldier who is lost without a battle to fight.
The projected plot for Rambo: Last Blood has Rambo teaming up with a journalist to take on a sex trafficking ring within the Mexican Cartel. In an attempt to finally settle down in Arizona after years away from home, Rambo sets out to rescue local girls who have been kidnapped and sold into the nefarious underground world of sex slavery.
Casting for many roles has also begun, and the characters are intriguing thus far. The aforementioned journalist role sounds as though he/she will be a secondary lead character next to Rambo. Additionally, there is an American character named Robert Siedel who has his hands in the sex trafficking operation. Siedel is eventually captured by Rambo so he can extract information on the missing girls. Other roles to be cast include Hugo the pervert, Victor the cold trafficker, and Gabrielle the nondescript Latina.
According to Geeks WorldWide, filming is set to begin on September 1st in Bulgaria and the Spanish Canary Islands. It is still unknown if shooting will actually occur in the American geographical locations (Arizona and Mexico) where the story takes place. The release date for Rambo: Last Blood has yet to be announced, but it is projected to hit theaters in fall of 2019.
