Rachel Sennott, known for her comedy roles in films like Shiva Baby, Bodies Bodies Bodies, and Bottoms, has joined the cast of Matt Ross’s Kockroach. Sennott joins an all-star cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, Zazie Beetz, and Alec Baldwin. The film will be directed by Matt Ross, who previously directed the indie film Captain Fantastic. The film is written by Ross and Jonathan Rames. Producers of the film are Andrew Lazar and Christina Weiss Lurie.
The story, based on a novel by William Lashner, follows a mysterious stranger who becomes a powerful crime boss after taking on New York’s criminal underworld. The Lashner novel is also said to be a reimagining of sorts of Franz Kafka’s novel Metamorphosis, which follows a man who slowly turns into a cockroach. So, it can be inferred that this upcoming film will also feature surreal, supernatural elements and might even include body horror. Character-specific details about the film, such as who Sennott and the rest of the ensemble cast are playing, are currently unknown. Filming is set to begin next week in Australia. A release date isn’t currently known either.
Sennott can be next seen in the Netflix series Big Mistakes and the film BUNNYLOVR.
