Production Is a Go for ‘Ant-man and the Wasp’

The wait time for the sequel to the 2015 Marvel film Ant-Man is getting smaller and smaller! As of now, Ant-Man and the Wasp has officially begun production, complete with appropriately miniature chairs for its titular heroes.

As the casting news has come out, it looks like the movie will boast a star-studded roster with returning names like Evangeline Lilly (The Hurt Locker), Paul Rudd (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Michael Peña (The Martian), Judy Greer (Arrested Development), and Michael Douglas (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps). Director Peyton Reed will be working with strong cast, which will hopefully give the film more of a margin for success, especially with the new additions: Michelle Pfeiffer (Dark Shadows) who will allegedly be playing the original Wasp, Janet van Dyne; Walton Goggins (Justified); Randall Park (Fresh off the Boat); and Laurence Fishburne (John Wick: Chapter 2).

Hopefully the sequel will learn from critiques made towards the original (namely its treatment of female characters) while also maintaining its fun and delightfully whimsical tone. One of the refreshing qualities of the movie was its comedy and acknowledgment of the absurd, allowing audiences and creators of the film alike to enjoy its wild scenes.

It will also be interesting to see another superhero in the fold: Goliath, played by Fishburne.

Take a look at the video below to see the star treatment provided to Scott Lang and Hope Pym!

Ant-Man and the Wasp will find its way into theaters next summer on July 6!
