Inconceivable! The cast of Princess Bride is planning a virtual script reading of the 1987 classic movie directed by Rob Reiner. This virtual reading is, in fact, a fundraiser for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin in hopes of winning the swing state.
Cary Elwes (Westley), Robin Wright (Buttercup), Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya), Wallace Shawn (Vizzini), Billy Crystal (Miracle Max), Carol Kane (Valerie), Chris Sarandon (Prince Humperdinck), Christopher Guest (Count Rugen) and director Rob Reiner are confirmed for participation with Patton Oswalt to moderate the Q&A portion. Josh Gad, Eric Idle, Jason Reitman, and Whoopi Goldberg have also joined the virtual reading as special guests.
A sign-up and donation, which will be going entirely to the Democratic Party, are required to see this live-streamed event. This event is scheduled for Sept 13 at 4:00 p.m. PT.
Both Democratic and Republican parties are fighting for Wisconsin, a historical swing state that in 2016 went to the Republicans. Joe Biden and Donald Trump visited Kenosha this week in an attempt to win the state’s vote.
Cary Elwes released a statement through the state party saying, “I think most people are aware by now that Donald Trump has completely abdicated his duties as President to represent and stand up for all Americans. He has failed to keep this country safe from COVID-19, and as a result, he is responsible for the devastating chaos, violence, and economic collapse that we are now experiencing.”
Elwes concluded, saying, “If America is going to have a real chance at healing, we must get rid of Trump. And that is only possible if we win Wisconsin. I am thrilled to be part of this very rare reunion of my colleagues from The Princess Bride as a way to increase awareness and garner resources for the state that will determine the fate of America.”
