This morning, Disney released the official trailer for their new animated adventure comedy Moana, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and the debut of Auli’i Cravalho.
Dubbed Disney’s ‘Polynesian princess film’ the trailer sets up what appears to be an epic fantasy adventure filled with plenty of laughs for everyone to enjoy. The film centers around Moana (Cravalho), a young woman with extraordinary sailing and navigation abilities. When a great danger arises and threatens her home, she embarks on a quest to find the legendary demi-god, Maui (Johnson). Maui, also known as the “shapeshifter, demigod of the wind and sea, hero of men,” decides to join her on a quest through what he calls a whole ocean of bad. Plunging into the realm of monsters the two hero’s are in for a journey they will never forget.
Directors Ron Clements and John Musker, who brought us the classics, The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin, reunite again for this feature. Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the Broadway hit musical Hamilton, lent hand with some of the music and other talents in the cast include, Alan Tudyk, Jemaine Clement, Nicole Scherzinger, and Phillipa Soo, who also appeared in Miranda’s Hamilton.
