Fresh from his turn as the Black Ranger in the recently revamped Power Rangers (which has earned $135 million worldwide at the box office since opening in March), rising actor Ludi Lin appears set to board the DC Comics cinematic universe with a role in the upcoming Aquaman. Deadline was the report this story.
The superhero title – which is being directed by James Wan (The Conjuring) – stars Jason Momoa as the titular heir to Atlantis. Momoa made his “super” debut, albeit in brief cameo form, in last spring’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and will make a more proper introduction in this fall’s Justice League before headlining his first standalone entry. Amber Heard (The Danish Girl), Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring), Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables), Willem Dafoe (The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman round out the ensemble cast.
Lin’s role in Aquaman will be that of Murk, a confidante and key alley to Aquaman’s Arthur Curry. The comics, the character of Murk leads the Men-at-War frontline army of Atlantis. The role marks a huge western breakthrough for the young actor who prior to Power Rangers had only appeared in one other feature film – the import Monster Hunt.
Aquaman is currently filming and is set to open in theaters on December 21, 2018.
