Audiences are preparing for launch with the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. With just under a week until its debut, early reviews are starting to roll in, with many saying the film lives up to the anticipation.
First Steps is both the first time the team appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the first big screen treatment for them in 10 years. Directed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman, the team features Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing.
The reviews are starting to trickle in for Fantastic Four, and it’s already generating positive word of mouth. Variety gathered a slew of early posts about the movie, praising many different aspects of it.
A fair portion of the praise was focused on the film’s villain, Galactus. One of Marvel’s most iconic villains, Ralph Ineson is responsible for playing the character this time around, with many fans anticipating his appearance. Brandon Davis on X said that “Galactus is awesome,” while going on to praise the visual effects.
Another source of praise has been the depiction of the Marvel’s First Family themselves. Several users on X praised the depictions of the characters, while Andrew J. Salazar emphasized that each team member gets ample time to shine. Similarly, Josh Wilding stated “the entire cast shines and does right by these characters.”
The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters July 25th.
