‘Pitch Perfect 3’ Lands New Director Trish Sie

The a capella musical sensation is aca-back for round three with a director at the helm.

Elizabeth Banks, who made her directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2, backed out of the third installment a few months ago. Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore was approached but was unavailable, and soon a massive hunt discovered Trish Sie.

Sie is a relatively new director; her only previous job was 2014’s Step Up: All In, the fifth sequel to the surprisingly popular dance franchise. She is also a choreographer and helped to create and direct videos for Ok Go, including the recent viral video “Upside Down & Inside Out.”

Mike White is currently reworking the script for Pitch Perfect 3, which recently moved from a July 21, 2017 release date to Dec. 22, 2017. Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and Hailee Steinfeld return for the third sequel.
