The word is out about Scott Lang’s future with Marvel Cinematic Universe! Disney/Marvel Studios have confirmed that Peyton Reed will return to the director’s chair for Ant-Man 3 with Paul Rudd reprising his titular role, according to MovieWeb.
While details about the film’s plot are currently vaulted, Ant-Man 3 will mark Rudd’s fifth appearance as Scott Lang. Rudd made his cinematic debut as the character in 2015’s Ant-Man alongside Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne and Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym, with all three actors reprising their roles in the 2018 sequel Ant-Man & The Wasp. Rudd also served as a supporting character in Captain America: Civil War and saw his role expand in Avengers: Endgame following an absence in Avengers: Infinity War. So far, Rudd is the only confirmed cast member of the Ant-Man films returning.
Production will commence as early as 2020 or later as 2021. Although there is no release date for the film yet, Disney/Marvel are expecting a 2022 release at the forefront of MCU’s Phase 5. Thus far, Phase 4’s lineup slate consists of Black Widow, Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Thor: Love and Thunder. Phase 5 of MCU will consist of Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2, a Blade reboot and updates of Fantastic Four and X-Men franchises, in that order.
