Peter Ramsey, Animation Director For ‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’ to Direct Live Action Thriller ‘Blood Count’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new thriller from Paramount is in the works from Peter Ramsey titled Blood Count. Ramsey is best known as the director of Rise of the Guardians and one of the co-directors of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. Ramsey was also the first black filmmaker to win the Academy Award for “Best Animated Feature” for his work on Into The Spider-Verse.

While Ramsey is best known for his work in animation, his newest project is a live-action film. The film is set in Los Angeles in the 1950s and revolves around vampires. One of the characters in the film will be a jazz musician. Ramsey also wrote the screenplay for the upcoming thriller.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse was an incredibly successful animated feature. Miles Morales in the film teamed up with different versions of Spiderman. Into The Spider-Verse is best known for its visual elements and how it pushed the medium of 3-D animation. Ramsey co-directed the film along with Bob Persichetti and Rodney Rothman. Ramsey will be an executive producer on both sequels to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.

Ramsey has been active in the film industry since 1989. His earliest credit according to his IMDB is for his work as a storyboard artist on Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child. Ramsey is experienced in working on films with supernatural elements, as he also served as Illustrator for Casper and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Blood Count be Ramsey’s first live-action feature credit as a director.
